Quebec City, May 30, 2019 - To cap off Les Violons du Roy’s 35th season, music director Jonathan Cohen and the orchestra musicians have cooked up a program that celebrates the incredible inspiration shown by great composers such as W.A. Mozart and F. Mendelssohn when they were still young. Full of life and musical ingenuity, the concert will culminate in Haydn’s Violin Concerto No. 4 in G Major with Pascale Giguère as solo violin.

Quebec City, May 15, 2019 – Groundbreaking violinist and conductor Julien Chauvin debuts with Les Violons du Roy in a program of French and German Baroque masterworks. Actor Normand Chouinard takes the stage in the second half of the program in the ever-fascinating role of Don Quixote, whose madcap adventures were so lushly scored by Telemann. The concert will take place on Thursday, May 23, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique in Quebec City, and on Friday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Bourgie Hall in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Quebec City, May 9, 2019 - Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec are pleased to announce that the orchestra and choir will each be touring the United States in 2020. They will be back at some of the U.S.’s premier stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Les Violons du Roy are also proud to announce that the orchestra will be making its Philadelphia début at the Zellerbach Theatre on April 25, 2020.

Quebec City, May 3, 2019 - Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec will be returning to New York’s Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, to present Bach’s Mass in B Minor, conducted by founding conductor Bernard Labadie. Les Violons du Roy first performed in New York almost 22 years ago when they presented Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, conducted by Bernard Labadie at the Lincoln Center. The orchestra and choir are delighted to continue the collaboration they started with Carnegie Hall 13 years ago and to showcase Quebec talent in one of the world’s leading capitals of culture.

Quebec City, February 14, 2019 – Les Violons du Roy Foundation is thrilled to announce that following a two year wait worth every minute its fortepiano has at last arrived. The acquisition of this fortepiano comes at the instigation of Les Violons du Roy founding conductor Bernard Labadie and Les Violons du Roy Foundation chair Yves Demers with the generous assistance of a remarkable group of patrons determined to see the ensemble Les Violons du Roy equipped to pursue ever-more authentic performances of the Classical repertoire.

Quebec City, January 24, 2019 – Les Violons du Roy music director Jonathan Cohen is excited to be teaming up with La Chapelle de Québec to present one of the greatest masterpieces of the 18th century, Haydn’s The Creation. In a first for the orchestra and the choir, Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec join with acclaimed soloists to perform the oratorio under the maestro’s baton on the following dates: Wednesday, February 27 at 8 p.m. and Thursday, February 28 at 8 p.m., Salle Raoul-Jobin at Palais Montcalm – Maison de la musique in Quebec City, and Sunday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m., Maison symphonique de Montréal.
